The bright lights of Grand Rapids and the sandy shores
of Lake Michigan make the West Central region of Michigan a vacationers
paradise.
Grand Rapids has it all: the fine arts, elegant dining,
and everything else cities twice its size have. The city's downtown centerpiece
is the Frederik Meijer Gardens, where the latest addition is a 24-ft. bronze
statue of Leonardo da Vinci's horse. You'll have to travel to Milan, Italy
to see it somewhere else.
Visit the largest Dutch community outside of Europe in the coastal town of Holland. Visitors explore an authentic windmill, a Dutch village, and hundreds of acres of tulip gardens. North to Muskegon, guests of the Double JJ Ranch can switch from horses to golf carts, then ease their saddle sores in pools, hot tubs, and other amenities. And while you're in Muskegon, head over to Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park, with over 40 rides, slides, and four roller coasters.
In the outdoors, explore Silver Lake Sand Dunes, with
over 1,800 acres of rolling sand hills. You can even drop by the Little
Sable lighthouse – one of five lighthouses in the region, and one of over
100 throughout the state.
