The Mississippi Gulf Coast offers twenty-six miles of white sand beaches,
glittering casinos, and luxury resorts. Here, the refreshing waves of progress
wash over and embrace the aged patina of the old cities along Highway 90.
Stroll along the beach, or among the widespread branches of Friendship
Oak - so old that it was a sapling when Ponce DeLeon searched for the Fountain
of Youth. Just north of Bay St. Louis is NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center.
Further inland are deep pine and hardwood forests and Hattiesburg, a modern
city that sits at the hub of several important routes. In Laurel, always
gracious and accommodating, is one of the nation's most prestigious art
museums.
