THE PINES
Through this area runs the historic Natchez Trace Parkway, which began as an Indian and
buffalo trail more than 8,000 years ago. Along this scenic route courses through quaint
towns, pine and hardwood forests, and is lined with markers and living history displays
that tell its enchanting story. Deeper into the countryside are winding roads coursing
through rich farm and timber lands. Modern cities and antebellum towns offer an abundance
of activities and events. Philadelphia is the site of the Choctaw Indian Reservation
and the state's only land based casino resort.
