The North West Region
 
While Europe was in the midst of the Dark Ages in Europe... Northwestern New Mexico had already developed an advanced civilization - the Anasazi Indians. As early as the 12th Century, some 5,000 people resided at Chaco Canyon. Use of passive solar heating, road systems, and multi-story apartment complexes were common place.
